Teriyaki salmon is a delicious and simple dish that perfectly balances sweet, salty, and savory flavors. Tender, flaky salmon fillets are glazed with a glossy teriyaki sauce that caramelizes beautifully as it cooks, creating a flavorful coating that pairs perfectly with the rich, buttery texture of the salmon. This dish is quick to prepare and works equally well for a busy weeknight dinner or a special occasion.
The magic lies in the teriyaki sauce. Made from a combination of soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, and garlic, the sauce is simmered until it thickens into a sticky, shiny glaze. The sweet and savory flavors soak into the salmon, enhancing its natural richness without overpowering it. Some recipes add fresh ginger or a splash of rice vinegar for extra depth and brightness.
The salmon is usually pan-seared or baked until the outside is lightly caramelized and the inside stays tender and moist. The glaze forms a beautiful lacquered finish that adds both flavor and visual appeal. As it cooks, the sauce reduces slightly, clinging to the fish and intensifying its savory-sweet flavor.
Teriyaki salmon pairs perfectly with steamed white rice, brown rice, or even quinoa to soak up the extra sauce. For a more complete meal, serve it with stir-fried vegetables like broccoli, snap peas, or bok choy. The fresh crunch of the veggies balances the richness of the fish beautifully.
This dish also pairs well with a crisp white wine like Pinot Grigio or a light sake that complements the sweet and savory notes of the teriyaki glaze. A sparkling water with lemon or green tea is a great non-alcoholic option.

I don’t know… it seemed too easy. Can it really taste that good? I feel like there’s something missing.
Easy recipes can be good, but I don’t trust it. Maybe add more spices? 🤔
I thought the same thing at first, but I tried it and it was amazing! Sometimes simple is best.
This teriyaki salmon is simply amazing! I made it for my family, and they loved it. So much flavor!!!
I’ve never tried teriyaki salmon before, but this sounds delish! I’ll have to give it a go. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I don’t know about you, but I think salmon is way too fishy. Can’t imagine it with all those sauces. Not for me.
This recipe is amazing! The salmon turned out so juicy and flavorful. Will make it again!
This recipe is amazing! The salmon turned out so flavorful, my family loved it!
I didn’t have ginger, so I used some dried spice. Still tasted good but not as fresh!
You forgot to mention what to do with the scallions. I was confused. Not good!
Not bad, but I feel like it could use something else… maybe some chili flakes?
Yummy!! Only took 20 min total, can’t get better than that!
I totally agree! This is the fastest way to make a delicious meal. Can’t wait to try it myself!
Didn’t turn out like the pics. My salmon was dry. Might be my oven tho 😕.
It was okay, but I think the honey made it too sweet. I prefer my teriyaki with more soy sauce.
This doesn’t seem like enough sauce for 6 oz of salmon. I added a bit more soy and honey.
I totally agree! The sauce isn’t enough for my taste either. I usually double it for more flavor.
I just used regular soy sauce and it was still good! Thx for sharing this recipe!
Really? Regular soy sauce? I thought low sodium is better for teriyaki. 🤔
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it! Soy sauce works great, doesn’t it?
SO good!!! Can’t believe I made restaurant-quality salmon at home. My family loved it!
Just a salmon with some ketchup honestly. Not impressed.
Honestly, salmon plus ketchup do taste good together if you like it. Everyone has a different palate.
I think you’re missing out! Teriyaki has a totally different flavor than just ketchup. Give it a try with the sauce next time!
Simple and quick! But mine took almost 20 mins to cook. I guess my oven takes longer.
I think it might just be your oven! Mine cooked perfectly in 12 mins. Maybe check the temp? 🤔
20 mins? That’s way too long! Salmon should be flaky at 15 max, just my opinion.
I dunno about this. I feel like it was a bit salty. More vinegar next time?
I’ve never cooked salmon before and this was super easy and delicious! Thanks!
Yum! 😋
I don’t think honey and soy sauce go together. This sounds weird.
