Mushroom Pasta

September 3, 2023

Mushroom pasta is a rich and comforting dish that brings together earthy mushrooms, creamy sauce, and al dente pasta for a perfect meal. This dish is ideal for mushroom lovers and anyone craving a hearty yet simple dinner. The mushrooms provide a deep umami flavor, while the creamy sauce adds richness, making every bite irresistible.

To prepare this mushroom pasta, start by sautéing your choice of fresh mushrooms in olive oil or butter until they’re golden and tender. You can use a variety of mushrooms such as cremini, shiitake, or button mushrooms to bring different textures and flavors. Once the mushrooms are cooked, add garlic, fresh thyme, or rosemary for extra fragrance and depth. Then, stir in cream or a combination of cream and Parmesan cheese to create a luscious sauce that clings to the pasta.

While the sauce is simmering, cook your pasta of choice, such as fettuccine, spaghetti, or penne, until it’s al dente. Once the pasta is ready, toss it in the creamy mushroom sauce, ensuring it’s evenly coated. For a finishing touch, garnish with grated Parmesan and fresh herbs like parsley or basil for added flavor and color.

This dish can be customized by adding protein, such as grilled chicken or shrimp, for a heartier meal. It can also be made vegetarian-friendly by using plant-based cream and cheese substitutes. Mushroom pasta is perfect for weeknight dinners or when you want to impress guests with a simple yet elegant dish. It’s quick, filling, and full of comforting flavors that everyone will love.

Why would you ruin a nice cream sauce with pepper??? That’s just wrong.

    2. 5 stars
That sounds amazing! I love adding a little heat to my dishes! Can’t wait to try this recipe.

Yum! The creaminess is superb, but I think I added too much garlic. The basic steps are easy to follow. Will definitely try again!

I think there’s too much cream in this recipe. My gut hurts after eating it. Just my opinion though!

  6. User avatar basil.johns72 says:

I had to tweak it a bit, used almond milk instead of cream. Came out decent. Pretty good!

I’m not a fan of mushrooms, but my husband is. He loved this, I’ll just stick to my marinara next time.

This was quick and easy. Perfect for a weeknight dinner. My kids scarfed it down! Will add some chicken next time.

I dunno about adding chicken. Isn’t this a pasta dish with mushrooms? But if your kids liked it, then who cares? lol.

    2. 5 stars
Glad to hear your kids loved it! Adding chicken sounds like a great idea. I bet it will be even more filling!

I don’t understand the fuss. The flavor was kinda bland. Maybe I used the wrong mushrooms? Not what I expected.

  10. User avatar adelina.kerluke1956 says:

How can you call this mushroom pasta when the amount of mushrooms is so little?! You need more mushrooms for a real flavor.

  11. User avatar carissa.blick20 says:

    5 stars
YUM! So easy to whip up. Used rigatoni instead of spaghetti for a change and it rocked!

  12. User avatar Spriggan Matron says:

Idk about this one. The sauce was too heavy for me, couldn’t finish my plate. Maybe I’m just not a cream person.

Mushroom pasta? Cold and slimy. Never again. I think I prefer my pasta with tomato sauce or chicken… just saying.

Isn’t pasta just noodles? Where’s the beef? This is not real food! Sorry, not for me.

    1. 4 stars
I get where you’re coming from, but pasta is a dish in itself! The mushrooms add flavor and texture. Give it a try! 👌

    2. User avatar dwayne.johnston78 says:

Noodles are made from different stuff and pasta is Italy’s thing! But this recipe lacks meat, true. Still sounds tasty tho!

  18. User avatar Katia Brekke says:

This was good but I added some spinach for extra nutrition. Also, could use some more garlic in my opinion!

I dunno, I think mushrooms and cream is kinda weird combo? Not my fav.

  21. User avatar lavern.cummings17 says:

I followed the recipe exactly but it came out too salty. Maybe the parmesan was too strong? Not sure if I’ll make it again.

    1. User avatar oPandariaNo says:

      4 stars
I had the same issue with the saltiness! Maybe try cutting back on the Parmesan next time? It can be really salty sometimes.

  22. 5 stars
Simplicity at its best! Love the combo of garlic and cream, never fails. Bravo!

  23. User avatar mirtha.kertzmann1993 says:

Looks easy but I ain’t a cook. Can someone tell me if I can use canned mushrooms?

    1. User avatar Deep Thought says:

      4 stars
Yes, you can use canned mushrooms! They might not have the same texture as fresh ones, but they’ll work just fine in the sauce.

    2. User avatar rolando.botsford says:

      3 stars
Canned? I dunno… fresh mushrooms are better! But if that’s all ya got, I guess it’s okay.

  24. User avatar Rosalva Luettgen says:

    2 stars
What a mess! My mushrooms burnt and then the cream separated. I guess I need more practice…

  25. User avatar Duncan Idaho says:

    5 stars
This recipe is a game changer! Made it last night and my whole family loved it. Will definitely make again!

  26. User avatar Alyson Hermann says:

Hate mushrooms, hate this recipe. Don’t understand why people like them.

    1. 3 stars
Why not just leave the mushrooms out? Seems easy to me. You can call it pasta cream or something, right? 🤷‍♂️

    2. User avatar hassan.lesch12 says:

      4 stars
I totally get it! Mushrooms are so divisive. But this recipe is actually really creamy and could be good without them! You could sub in some spinach or even chicken.

  27. User avatar ken.farrell38 says:

    2 stars
Easy to follow but my sauce didn’t thicken at all. I was left with soup! What did I do wrong?

    1. User avatar janessa.witting says:

      4 stars
Sounds like you might not have let it cook long enough after adding the cream and cheese. That part is crucial for thickening! Hope it works out next time!

  28. User avatar evan.ebert46 says:

    5 stars
OMG this is a 10/10! My kids even liked it and that’s saying something!!!

    1. User avatar leota.hane32 says:

      5 stars
I’m so glad to hear that! My kids are picky eaters too, but they loved it! Totally making this again!

    2. 3 stars
A 10/10? Really? I thought it was just okay. Maybe I did something wrong… who knows.
