Buttery dinner rolls are the epitome of comfort food, with soft, pillowy interiors and golden, slightly crispy exteriors. These rolls are the perfect accompaniment to any meal, from holiday feasts to casual weeknight dinners, offering a warm and indulgent touch to your table.
The dough is made with a combination of flour, yeast, butter, sugar, and milk, creating a rich and tender base. The yeast gives the rolls a light, airy texture, while the butter adds richness and flavor. After mixing, the dough is kneaded until smooth, then left to rise, allowing the yeast to work its magic and make the dough beautifully soft and fluffy.
Once the dough has risen, it’s divided into small portions and shaped into individual rolls. After a second rise, the rolls are baked until golden brown. During the baking process, the buttery aroma fills the kitchen, teasing your senses and making the anticipation all the sweeter. After baking, the rolls are brushed with more melted butter to enhance their glossy, golden finish and add extra richness.
These buttery dinner rolls are melt-in-your-mouth soft, with a slight crispiness on the outside and a tender, moist interior. They are perfect for sopping up gravy, dipping into sauces, or enjoying on their own with a pat of butter or jam.
They pair wonderfully with a variety of main dishes, including roasted meats, soups, and salads. For a holiday spread, they are often served alongside turkey, ham, or beef, adding a comforting touch to every bite.
For drinks, pair them with a glass of white wine like Chardonnay, or opt for a warm beverage like herbal tea or hot apple cider for a cozy feel.
Buttery dinner rolls are a must-try for any bread lover and will quickly become a favorite at your dinner table, offering both comfort and indulgence in every bite.

These rolls were delicious! So buttery and soft, I’ll definitely make them again!
I’m not a baker usually, but these was easy. Kinda fiddly, but worth it.
Okay, so I messed up the yeast part and they didn’t rise right. Still tasted good, but not the same. Anyone else had this happen?
I totally feel you! Yeast can be tricky sometimes. At least they still tasted good! Next time, maybe try checking the water temperature more closely? Good luck!
Just okay. They tasted buttery but lacked some flavor, maybe add more sugar next time?
Went perfect! I added a bit of garlic powder to the mix. Wow, flavor explosion! Highly recommend.
These rolls are sooo good! Fluffy and buttery, just like I love them. My family devoured them in minutes!
Made this recipe for a potluck and they were the hit of the night! Thank you!
This recipe is horrible. My rolls turned out flat as pancakes. Not following this again.
I’m sorry to hear that! Maybe the yeast wasn’t frothy enough? I had that problem once too.
Do i really need to wait an hour for it to rise? Ain’t nobody got time for that!
I love making these! They remind me of my grandma’s kitchen. So comforting.
Eh, just average rolls. I think store-bought taste the same honestly.
Maybe you just need to try a different recipe? These are pretty popular for a reason!
