Frozen Soups Under Health Alert Due to Possible Wood Contamination in Cilantro
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for 13 frozen soup and bowl products that may contain pieces of wood, found in the cilantro used in production. Although no official recall has been issued, the affected products may still be in consumer refrigerators or freezers.
This alert follows a recall issued by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for the cilantro ingredient after the discovery of wood fragments. FSIS is continuing to investigate and expects to update the list of impacted products as more information becomes available.
Which Products Are Affected?
The alert currently includes certain products from brands such as Campbell’s, Verve, Health Request, Life Cuisine, Molly’s Kitchen, Sysco, and Crafted Market. The products were primarily distributed in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, though the alert may expand nationwide.

- Campbell’s Chicken Tortilla Soup – Use By: Oct. 24 & Dec. 15, 2026
- Molly’s Kitchen Chicken Enchilada Soup – Use By: Oct. 28, Nov. 10 & Dec. 11, 2026
- Life Cuisine Southwest Style Taco Bowl – Use By: March & April 2026
- Verve Wicked Thai Soup – Use By: Oct. 7, 2026
- Crafted Market Coconut Chicken Thai Style Soup – Use By: May & June 2025

What Should You Do?
If you have any of the listed products in your fridge or freezer, do not consume them. Instead, dispose of the product or return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. FSIS urges consumers to stay alert as the investigation continues and more products may be identified.
