- 0.5 pound sausage breakfast sausage recommended
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour for thickening
- 2 cups milk whole milk preferred
- to taste salt
- to taste black pepper freshly ground
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled. Remove sausage and set aside.
Sprinkle flour over the sausage drippings in the skillet, stirring to form a paste. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens.
Return the cooked sausage to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve the gravy hot over biscuits or toast.
