Ingredients
  

  • 0.5 pound sausage breakfast sausage recommended
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour for thickening
  • 2 cups milk whole milk preferred
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper freshly ground

Instructions
 

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled. Remove sausage and set aside.
  • Sprinkle flour over the sausage drippings in the skillet, stirring to form a paste. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens.
  • Return the cooked sausage to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve the gravy hot over biscuits or toast.
