Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a shallow dish, mix together the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Dip each chicken breast into the melted butter, then coat both sides with the breadcrumb mixture. Place the coated chicken breasts on a baking sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
Remove the chicken from the oven and top each breast with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Serve the baked chicken parmesan with pasta or a side salad.
