1 pound pasta | |
2 tablespoons olive oil | |
1 onion, diced | |
2 cloves garlic, minced | |
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes | |
1 teaspoon dried basil | |
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano | |
Salt and pepper, to taste | |
Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving | |
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish |
1. | Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside. |
2. | In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. |
3. | Add the crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine. Simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. |
4. | Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat the pasta in the sauce. |
5. | Serve the pasta with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves for garnish. |
